American Water installs Kinetico reverse osmosis systems for Austin homeowners who want better-tasting water for drinking, cooking, coffee and ice. Our team brings more than 250 years of combined water treatment experience to every install, and we’ve been helping families in Round Rock, Dripping Springs, Victoria and Corpus Christi get cleaner water since 1987.
The right system depends on your water and your kitchen. Some homes need targeted filtration for specific contaminants, while others want something compact that frees up space under the sink. Below, you’ll find how reverse osmosis works, what it removes and how Kinetico’s systems compare, so you can see what fits before we ever talk price.
Water in Central and South Texas travels through a lot of limestone before it reaches your tap. It picks up dissolved minerals along the way, and city systems add disinfectant to keep it clean in the pipes. Reverse osmosis is one of the most thorough ways to filter what’s left. Depending on the system, Kinetico RO is certified to reduce:

Every home is different, and so is every water supply. City water, well water and water in coastal areas each carry their own mix. That’s why every recommendation we make starts with a free water test.
A reverse osmosis system starts with a sediment filter that catches larger particles like dirt and rust. Water pressure then pushes the water through a semipermeable membrane, a layer so fine that it lets water through while holding back dissolved contaminants. Those contaminants are rinsed down the drain. A final carbon filter polishes the taste before the water reaches your faucet.
HYDRO ECO is Kinetico’s first tankless reverse osmosis system. Many traditional RO systems store filtered water in an under-sink tank. HYDRO ECO skips the tank and filters water on demand, so you get a continuous supply right when you turn on the faucet.
It’s also Kinetico’s first electronic drinking water system with built-in feedback. LED indicators on both the faucet and the unit show system status and filter life at a glance. Built-in leak detection monitors the system around the clock, sounds an alert and shuts off automatically if it senses a leak.
HYDRO ECO is a strong fit for:

For every gallon sent down the drain to rinse the membrane, you get about two gallons of filtered water. That’s less waste than many traditional RO systems.
WaterSense is the EPA’s label for products that use less water without sacrificing performance, and every labeled product is independently certified to meet the EPA’s criteria. HYDRO ECO is among the first point-of-use reverse osmosis systems to earn it. It produces about two gallons of filtered water for every gallon sent down the drain, so you get better drinking water without the waste of older RO systems.
HYDRO ECO is certified to reduce lead, chlorine, fluoride, nitrates, heavy metals and total dissolved solids. That covers the chlorine taste many city water customers notice, metals that can come from older plumbing and fixtures, and the dissolved minerals that leave tap water tasting flat. Certified means the system was tested against these contaminants, not just designed with them in mind.

Pre- and post-filters last 12 months or 950 gallons. The RO membrane lasts 24 months or 1,900 gallons. Filters are quick-change.

Because HYDRO ECO is electric, it needs a power source under the sink. We’ll check your setup during your free water test.
The Kinetico K5® with VOC Guard is one of the most advanced residential reverse osmosis systems available. Thoughtfully engineered for convenience and cost-effectiveness, it delivers a reliable supply of high-quality, great-tasting water while removing up to 99% of contaminants.

The K5’s non-electric design is a breakthrough in efficiency, using the power of water pressure instead of electricity. This innovative approach reduces energy use, minimizes maintenance and delivers dependable performance with fewer moving parts.
The K5 with VOC Guard removes more contaminants than any other drinking water system. Certified by the WQA to NSF/ANSI Standard 58 for PFOS/PFOA reduction, it now comes standard with a VOC filter for powerful protection against volatile organic compounds.

With EverClean® Rinse, the K5® with VOC Guard uses high-quality water to clean itself, helping maintain peak performance and prolong the life of the membrane.
Features like the MACguard® Filter and the PureMometer® Filter Life Indicator help ensure timely filter replacements by alerting you before filters reach their limits. Plus, quick-disconnect cartridges make filter changes fast and hassle-free.
The AquaKinetic® A200 Drinking Water System is an affordable and effective solution for improving the taste and quality of your drinking water. Its three-stage filtration process, including a high-capacity prefilter, a reverse osmosis membrane and a carbon postfilter, removes a wide range of contaminants. Compact and flexible, this system can be installed under a sink, in a utility room, basement or garage.

The reverse osmosis membrane in the AquaKinetic® A200 delivers superior water quality at a faster rate than comparable systems, ensuring you always have clean, great-tasting water when you need it.
The AquaKinetic® A200 features a dedicated, lead-free faucet installed at your sink, providing a safe and convenient way to enjoy its high-quality drinking water.
All three systems use reverse osmosis to deliver better drinking water. The differences come down to space, features and how much you want to customize your filtration.

Not sure which one fits? Your water test answers that. We’ll show you what’s in your water and match the system to it.
A reverse osmosis system does more than improve taste. It changes how your household uses water every day.
Our technicians handle the full install, including the dedicated faucet, and walk you through how your system works before they leave.
Every RO system sends some water down the drain. That’s how the membrane rinses away what it filters out. Newer systems waste much less than older ones. HYDRO ECO produces about two gallons of filtered water for every gallon that goes to the drain, and it has earned EPA WaterSense certification for water efficiency.
Not necessarily, since an RO system works on its own. In hard water, though, minerals can build up on the membrane over time. Pairing RO with a water softener helps protect the membrane and keeps scale out of the rest of your plumbing and appliances.
It depends on the system and how much water you use. HYDRO ECO’s pre- and post-filters last about a year, and its membrane lasts about two years. Its LED indicators tell you when a change is due. The K5’s PureMometer filter life indicator does the same job.
Yes, HYDRO ECO is certified to reduce fluoride. If you’d prefer less fluoride in your drinking water, ask about it during your water test.
The best reverse osmosis system for your home depends on what’s in your water. Our technicians will test it in your home for free, explain the results in plain language and show you which Kinetico system fits your water, your kitchen and your budget.
